A Little History...

Salem was built in 1893 by a handful of Swedish immigrants who needed a place of worship. The dirt-poor immigrants had been walking nearly six miles every Sunday morning to an
established Lutheran Church. At times they took food for their meal, and walked 6 miles back home. The few immigrants somehow raised $500 and built the Chapel over a hundred years ago. Salem has grown a lot in the last years. We have gone through a building project which increased the size of the facility and gave us more space for youth gatherings and adult meetings. Our kitchen facilities have been modernized and we have a lovely narthex. Our altar features a beautiful stained glass window, reconditioned pulpit and communion rail.

We happily remain a smallish and friendly country church anxiously awaiting your arrival!

After several years' absence, Sunday school has returned to Salem! Over the past few years we have been blessed with a sizable growth in our weekly worship attendance. This growth
is inclusive of several younger people who have children of Sunday school age. Interested? Send us an E-mail
with your contact information and we will get things going!
